The Open is upon us! As we cross into March, it’s officially Open season in the CrossFit world. The season will run from March 11 - March 29, and for the first time athletes have the option to work out from the Gym or from Home - with equipment or without equipment. This is a great addition for many as COVID-19 has temporarily, and unfortunately for some - permanently, closed the doors of many gyms. According to The Crossfit Games, for those working out with equipment, the only items needed are a barbell and plates, a pull-up bar, a box, a dumbbell, and a jump rope. So what does that mean for an Open participant that's planning to use equipment?
It means there are movements that are automatically exempt from showing up (wall balls, rowing, ring muscle-ups, etc), and there are movements you can readily expect. The Morning Chalk Up has a full breakdown on movements and the likelihood to see them. In simpler terms - a pull-up bar could be chest to bar, toes to bar, chin over bar pull-ups, or even bar muscle-ups. A box could be [burpee] box jumps or [burpee] box jump overs, while a jump rope is usually double unders. A barbell and plates could be anything from thrusters to power cleans to deadlifts, while a dumbbell could be step ups/overs, lunges, single arm snatches, clean and jerks, etc. These last 2 implements are where OMECHA comes in.
Here’s how we can help...
The Open is a time to give your all to your workout. You're no longer training or practicing - it. is. GO time. You're competing against thousands of people from all over the city, state, country, and world. You will likely be repeating workouts once or twice to improve your score. Your nutrition and recovery are going to be key. Another instrumental piece during this time will be injury prevention, and the Bemi and Tosan were made just for that. They are meant to ensure you don't get painful bruises or bloody cuts that will slow you down and keep you from performing at your best.
With our products, you will have a leg up on injury prevention and keeping your performance at an optimal level. Give us a try, crush your Open, and when the Open is over, let us know how it went!
